Preservation Volunteers links historical preservation projects in the United States with skilled and unskilled volunteers from France and the United States. We were founded on the model of REMPART. Our work rejuvenates structures of historic and artistic value, fosters Franco-American friendships, and revitalizes communities.
History, architecture, and the technologies of the past come alive this summer for volunteers ready to spend two weeks working at Conference House Park and Green-Wood Cemetery.
Fourteen years and going strong! Since 2002, PV has partnered with REMPART in France to coordinate an exchange program dedicated to preservation and restoration work.
"I liked having a chance to work with actual preservationists in two very different settings. It gave me an idea of what a “day in the life” of a conservator might be like, with all of the considerations one must take into account when working on a historic site."
"It's a chance to step back in the past and do things the old way. The old manner. Sometimes the old ways are the best ways,"
